7 Signs That You Need a Furnace Repair Technician

A furnace is an important part of your home, and it should be in top working condition. Regular furnace repair will help to prevent system failures, reduce energy costs, and ensure a safe, efficient system.

Often, the first step in furnace repairs is to do some troubleshooting and see what’s wrong. Many furnace problems can be easily fixed, but sometimes they may require a technician’s attention.
NOISES AND SOUNDS

One of the most obvious signs that your furnace is in trouble is if it starts making strange noises. While today’s furnaces are designed for quiet operation, grinding, whirring, and other sounds can be a sign that something is going wrong. If you notice any loud noises, call a furnace repair professional immediately.
Faulty Electrical Systems

If you hear a thumping, humming, or buzzing sound whenever your furnace turns on, that could be a sign of an issue with the circuits within the furnace itself. This can occur if the circuit is overloaded, or there’s a ground fault.

Check the fuse or circuit breaker at the main electrical entrance panel to see if it’s tripped, and if so, reset it. Otherwise, it’s likely that the circuit is just fine.
BAD AIR QUALITY

If the air coming from your vents is stale or smells bad, it could be a sign that you need a new filter. A clogged filter can prevent the furnace from circulating air properly, so it needs to be replaced regularly.
NOISES AND SOUNDS

A variety of strange noises can occur when your furnace is having trouble, from screeching and banging to scraping and clunking. A squealing or scraping sound is likely a blower belt problem, while a clunking noise can be an indication of a fan motor problem.

OUT OF RANGE ACCOMMODATION: A malfunctioning furnace can cause significant temperature differences throughout your house. Depending on the location of your heating unit and the size of your home, these differences can be difficult to deal with.

TIGHT DELIVERY OF ENERGY: If you find that your heating system isn’t producing enough heat for your entire house, or it just can’t seem to deliver the exact amount of heat you need, then you probably have an issue with your ducts. Your HVAC technician will be able to get to the root of the problem and help you make your home more comfortable.

SEVERE TEMPERATURE DIFFERENCES: A broken furnace can create major temperature difference in your home, especially in the bedrooms. This can be a sign that you have a faulty thermostat or an inefficient duct system, but if you’ve called a tech out, they will be able to figure out what is causing the difference and resolve it quickly.

Faulty Ignitor (Older): If your furnace doesn’t start when you press the “on” button, then there could be a problem with the spark ignitor. This spark ignitor is responsible for lighting the flame and then sending it through your gas valve to the burner section of the furnace.
